The “Anti Social” Movement
Why We’ve Decided To Move Away From Social Media
For years, we relied on a "social media first" strategy to build our brand from the ground up. While that approach was incredibly valuable for kickstarting our journey, the digital landscape has changed drastically. Today, social media often feels less like a community and more like a popularity contest dominated by massive advertising budgets.
As a small business, we found it increasingly difficult to cut through the digital noise. Instead of meaningful engagement, our feeds and inboxes became crowded with spam, generic inquiries for free gear, and sensationalized content. While we are incredibly grateful for the genuine connections and great people we met in those early days, the platform mechanics no longer align with our core values.
Shifting Focus From "Doom Scrolling" to Product Excellence
Remaining on these platforms required a daily investment of time and energy that yielded little more than dead-end leads. As a lean team, our resources are far better spent doing what we set out to do from day one: developing, evolving, and creating the highest quality gear possible.
By stepping away from the endless scroll, we are redirecting our focus toward:
Product Innovation: Spending saved hours on original ideas, new designs, and rigorous product development.
Intentional Marketing: Redirecting our advertising budget toward platforms like Reddit, where we can connect with highly relevant communities more efficiently without the need for a constant, high-maintenance social media presence.
Life After Social Media
Since pulling the plug on our mainstream social accounts, our web traffic has remained remarkably steady. More importantly, the time we reclaimed has already allowed us to diversify and open new, successful sales channels on eBay and Etsy.
Our experience has proven what we long suspected: social media is not a requirement to build a strong, sustainable brand. We are excited to grow independently, focusing entirely on our products and the community that supports them.
